| Rationale |
ELEMENTZ, our Science and Technology Centre
is set up to serve all the schools in the North Zone (including
four JCs), on the basis of pooled resources (eg. expert
guidance, high-end equipment) and extensive networking.
It has initiated linkages with Science-related institutions
and worked in partnership with industry and the community.
In line with the Ministry of Education's vision of "Thinking
Schools Learning Nation", the Centre promotes critical
and creative thinking, and collaboration among students,
teachers and working professionals through original and
innovative project work. The Centre is a place where students
develop in depth their love and passion for science. It
nurtures inquiring minds, so that they will continuously
be involved in science research and development. Teachers,
being facilitators of learning, will be updated on the
latest in the development of Science through the activities
of the Centre. Essentially, it is a Centre for both teachers
and students where the spark of curiosity and excitement
in the learning of science can be fostered. The Centre
is housed at Anderson Junior College which
is a member of the Cluster. |
